Camera Use for archery improvement

How do you make use of photography to improve at archery? Do you have any tips?

A camcorder is a great tool to use. Put it on a tripod, You can then concentrate on the weak points of your subject, without any camera shake. From full length, to what is taking place under the chin. You can also have the subject shoot over the camera as it is focused on the archer (Up & under) Put it on remote. You can then give instant playback, either on a monitor or through the camera display. Your subject can then see what is taking place.
If you do this for yourself, use a full-length mirror, set up the camera at such an angle so you can see both sides of yourself at the same time. Experiment with your angles, you'll be supprised at what you'll see.

A well placed mirror (to the front right of a right handed archer), without a camcorder, is a great tool for checking anchor point and other aspects of your shot.

Having the mirror placed such that you can come to full draw as normal, and then simply move your eyes (not your head!) to look at the reflection in the mirror. This gives realtime feedback on how the anchor point looks and more importantly how it feels. So it can give better information than reviewing a camcorder image after the event.

Mastering Archery Technique Analysis - James Park

This book has some excellent descriptions of how to photograph someone and then analyse the photos. Well worth the money, better still, try and borrow a copy.

Arrow cctv

Daft as it may sound, ive been trying to convince our club to purchase a cctv system for archer training, the system I had in mind at a cost of £1500 is a laptop computer with four cameras on tripods recording four different locations of the archer whilst in the shot, both sides, the back of, and top, this way all angles can be analyised at the same time on the computer, better still to attach probes at key areas and use a special camera to see muscle movement.
