To answer Clicki, I'm sure FITA have something to say about shooting from permanent covers, else they don't deem it shooting outside?

So why can precision rifle shoots be deemed outdoor when they shoot from under and open-sided canopies??

'Different horses for courses' so the saying goes. FITA don't regulate rifle shooting. Differant rules?

Trust me our field is windy even on a still day . If I could shoot FITA rounds from a shed some of us would have clubed together and bought one long ago

Scrap the silly fabric bit and it would make a dandy bow stand! I wouldn't have to bend down to get the bow!

Thanks for stating the obvious! It was just a comparison.

A canopy is not a shed. It's just a roof. How can something like this be considered indoors?

Or this?

Shooting from under cover was the suject of a lengthy debate of AF some time ago, FITA rules will not allow it, as mentioned above. Any rounds other than FITA rounds would be subject to local rules/regs.

Many clubs in Oz were interested in erecting shade over the shooting line, like shown in the picture above, and I believe application was made to FITA for approval due to our hot summers, and, more importantly, need for UV protection which is far greater in the Sthn Hemi. The response was in the negative.

Our club just received a large grant to cover our shooting line with shade clothe and protect us from the sun in summer.
It is impossible to shoot at our club in January and Feb due to the excessive sun. I've been to Spain in the middle of Europe summer and it is no where near as harse as it is in Australia.

Wondering if this might get in the way of your draw a little bit.

A local archery club to me has build something similar to protect them from the wind and the rain. But I think they only use this for practice in the poor conditions.

However the way I see it, if you are going to practice in poor conditions you are better doing it in the real thing. Else when you come to shoot at a tournament in the wind or rain, you will be a bit shell-shocked.

Also looking at the forum of, "Where do you draw the line with the weather?".

http://www.archery-interchange.com/f...ead.php?t=4602

It would seem the majority of people will keep shooting no matter what the condition. As another thought, would it not be been seen as an unfair advantage to those people who have covers over them, and those that don’t?

If the shooting line was covered over for everyone, I can see a reason for complaints, but tents/covers for one or two archers on a line, I think there would be a high number of objections.

Having said that, Dave, if you get one, can I be on the same Target as you???
