These are done in Photoshop for the most part and a straight line is easy. Using the brush tool set to whatever you want, left click a single dot where you want to start, now go to the finish point and whilst holding the shift key click again, presto! one straight line. If you are using a pencil dont look at your pencil, look at where you are going to finish and without taking your eye off that spot, draw the line.
