| Nice vid - one to be kept for the album! One key thing you're doing wrong Porly - you're holding the bow in the wrong hand! ![]()

| Fair bit of head movement when coming to full draw (lifting chin to get tab under?) Too quick to release, Too keen to see where the arrow hit Not sure if it's just because it's a low poundage bow, but it doens't seem to jump forward which could indicate a too tight a grip. Don't listen too much to me though, I'm crap ![]()

| oh and, your fingers seem to jerk left on release - try to get your index finger to follow your jawline up behind your ear. And... try to get used to nocking your arrow with the bow vertical, you could get into trouble at competitions nocking it like that ![]()

| FFish: Arf, arf! ![]() Dave: Yeah, I've been moving my head initially deliberately to make sure I don't lean forward to get my anchor points. The bow's only 26lb, so there's not much jump in it. I fold 3 fingers in on themselves to avoid string slap and over grip, so there's no danger of me holding it too tight. Cheers for the comments though!

| To me it doesn't seem like you are applying a constant pressure on the string before the release. Instead you are locking your body and just opening your fingers. You need to keep pulling even when you have loosed the string. If you keep drawing until you loose the string, when you release you will pull your elbow through giving a much straighter and smoother release. Your elbow should ideally be finishing behind the back of your neck, and there should be some force in the movement, such that if someone were to tug on your wrist there would be no forward motion. You could purchase a foremaster to help exercise this, or just use a bit of corded tape and some strong string. Hook the sling (made from the tap) around the back of your elbow, attach one end of the string to the tape, the other to your bow string (just above your nocking point). The string should be just longer than needed so it’s not pulling the sling tight. Now draw the bow as you normally would WITH AN ARROW IN (do not try this without an arrow), when you release the string will obviously shoot forwards thus pulling your elbow in that direction to. The trick is to apply an opposite force with your release so your elbow stays back behind your neck. I am not sure if I have described that very well, if you are not sure I can try to elaborate a little more. |
