I didn't get a photo

shooting at dunster on the saturday of the double york one of the guys on my target hit the number board, wrote it down as a miss then we discovered the pin nock stuck in the face in the outer white. The question is could he have claimed it as a one or not (good one for any judges out there) it had hit backwards and the noc may still be in there we had a look at the end of sunday but couldn't see it.

No, its a miss, scores are "The position of the shaft in the face" or "as the shaft lies in the face" Fita book 2 Rule 7.6.2, GNAS rule 306(a)(iii) & 306(e), Judges guidlines page 19, so a pin nock would not count as scoring, hope that helps.
