Limb alignment

If your new limbs are not aligned properly what exactly does that mean and can it be fixed?

it means your string doesnt run down the centre of your limbs and riser and MIGHT cause issues with your centreshot and possibly with your tuning (and presumably at the extreme could cause your limbs to twist slightly when drawn / released ? )

easily remedied as long your bow had the relevant adjustment at the limb pockets - what riser do you have ?

It's a Hoyt Eclipse that I have. Was advised by the shop that they were not happy with the alignment so needed to look again at the limbs before sending. Suppose what I'm asking, being quite new to all this, does this mean a prob with the limbs themselves?

if theyre looking at the limbs it suggests that rather than just poor adjustment yes

just checked and it seems that some (older ? ) eclipses ARE user adjustable for alignment but others (newer ? ) are not (unless you buy the right tool to do so - its not an allen key bolt apparently)

so either your limbs dont look right to the dealer and they want them checked out (most likely scenario in my opinion) or they are advising of a delay while they adjust the factory set alignment

Whatever, it sounds like the shop are being pro-active. I would be happy that they are taking the initiative rather than just shipping it out the door hoping that you wouldn't notice. Sounds like a good shop.

Your string/limb-tip alignment should look like the center diagram on the bottom of page 9 of Hoyt's Recurve Manual. The instructions for adjustment probably will not be applicable to your Eclipse but a properly aligned limb on an Eclipse will look the same as a properly aligned limb on ANY riser. - John
