Marks from fletching contact on arrow shelf Hi All, Just given my partners bow a clean and I notice a good deal of rubbery residue on the arrow shelf. I know that this is from the fletchings hitting it as they pass and I'm fairly sure that its due to the nocking point position. My question is which way do I move it so her arrows clear the shelf, right now it is at 8mm above square which I thought was at the top of the recomended range. Jeff

Thanks, After reading the thread I'll try moving her nocking point up a little. By the way, can you tell if you've gone too far?

| It can sometimes come from the arrow rest position and the button position. When the arrow is sitting on the rest, it should contact the button either smac bang in the middle of the button, or 1/2mm high. If it is too low, then when the arrow flys into the button then the shape of the button tip can force the arrow into the arrow rest. If the button is too far in or out, then a similar effect can happen. Worth checking, then do the nocking point. My nock is 3/8" above square which is 10mm. It can also depend on finger presure on the string. Another factor can be if the top finger is resting on the arrow, and bending it down. Belive me this can happen to quite a lot, and can lead to the arrow being forced in to the rest.

Will check the tiller tomorrow, nocking point is currently 12mm above square. It was at 8mm but I haven't checked the arrow rest for marks since moving the nocking point up the last 4mm. Will also double check the button position on the arrow. Thanks again Jeff.

another way to check for the arrow hitting the riser is to apply a fine powder to the riser (e.g. athletes foot powder) after a few shots you will be able to see where the powder has been rubbed off.

Have checked the riser shelf after the last shooting session on Tuesday and there was only a slight mark from fletching contact. Brace height is in the middle of the suggested range and tiller is set to 2mm positive. Looks like the nock point height was the main culprit but will try the powder technique later to confirm everything is clearing. Jeff
