Amazing scores at 90 and 70, sub standard at 60m

I've been shooting the longer distances (90m and 70m) in preperation for FITA's, euronations etc coming up during the middle of the season and have been putting in some fairly respectable scores...

I came down to 60m on Thursday to get sight marks for a FITA 900 i should be shooting on Sunday, all things being equal, and my arrows resemble a shotgun style grouping...

I'm scoring in the 45-50 region, which is actually lower than what i've been putting in at 70m, and about the same as what i've been averaging at 90

Can someone please shed some light on my problem please?

Two possibilites. There is a small chance that the arrows aren't straightening out fast enough, but I think that is remote.
More likely is the fact that the target looks easier to hit so the archer takes less care over several aspects of the shot. The aim can get lazy and the loose/follow through can become variable/careless.

Could also be an alignment problem or clearance problem with clothing. Depends on how confident you are that your stance/etc was the same as 70m/90m Could also be that you were simply trying too hard and lost the flow.

I struggled at 60m this weekend shooting a canadian - thankfully my 50, 40 and 70m was useful enough to get me to 2nd place on the day. I can only put it down to not practicing much at that distance - it's a funny distance, just get on and shoot it :-).

Nah, its the strange rocks around llandrindod .
Wait till pembrey ally's go around corners, and if you believe that you'll believe anything.

Dont worry, ive yet to get my sight marks for anything over 60, so some extra effort is needed.
Glad i only have one exam on the 29th "norman" Britain a subject ive been force fed since i was 4, so not much revision being done, should thank my dad for dragging me round what feels like every castle in britain.

Canadian: 2.5doz at 70/60/50/40m on a 122cm Face. Think FITA 900 with a 70m bit.
