| Out of laziness and ignorance I guess- this is the way I've always done it.....and yes - it's unecessary (quicker yes) but it is going to stress the bolts - they are only alli aren't they. Good call and thanks for 'flagging' this point.....can't believe I've been allowed to get away with it till now. ![]() |

| I am quite new to this archery stuff but, I figured that the way to adjust the said bolts was unstrung. Then a couple of weeks ago I visited a well known, and (as far as web talk goes) well respected shop to try some limbs for weight. The limbs were adjusted while strung. When I questioned this, the assistant, who was the son of the proprietor, said it was fine and a perfectly acceptable practise. The riser was a Hoyt eclipse, the limbs Border and Hoyt. Strangely, the Hoyt instructions say to…. 1/ Loosen the tiller bolt locking screws. 2/ Unstring the bow. 3/ Turn the weight adjustment bolt. And so on. I am thinking that the logical way would be 1/ Unstring. 2/ Loosen tiller etc. If there is any doubt about the stress on any part of the bow I will do all adjustments unstrung. Is it worth the time saved not to? John. |

| ive always made ANY adjustments to the limb pockets after unstringing - its not worth the potential risk to save a few seconds (besides - on the two risers ive tried tiller / weight adjustments while strung its always been pretty hard to easily do so because the whole system is under tension anyway) slainte rob

| I agree completley with Buzz (although this isn't why mine failed). It isn't worth the risk, although I can understand why the shop may do it - 100's of alterations a week and one alteration won't do any harm type thing. Kae. |

| I`m also in full agreement with ya Buzz (and nope it`s not why mine failed either i`ve never adjusted bolts while bow strung) hoping to get my hands on a set of Stainless bolts someday
