new string issue

hello all

was wondering if someone could help me. i put on a new dacron string on my bow last night as the serving on my old one had worn away, i checked string alighnment and adjusted nocking point and brace heighting so they are the same as my old string, but just from shooting at 18m i found the arrows going to left??!! string picture is the same, so i was just wondering why this would happen? does the string need to be shot in for a while? does this usually happen?

any advice would be great!!

thankyou

are you L or R handed?

weight of new string is different from old possibly,
-have you waxed it as you might have done the old string?
-Same number of strands?
-serving lengths the same?
-same no. of twists?

just a few of the things to look at when you a have a moment!

so would the stretching make the arrows drift left??

the string is straight out of a packet just like the old one, same number of strands and same length. should be virtually the same in every respect as they are both from the same shop, the only thing ive noticed is that the serving is longer and thicker than my old one so would that produce arrows drifting left? can voach for the same number of twists nut i wouldnt have thought this would contribute to arrows left. im right handed by the way

If the new string is heavier(more serving;more wax; more strands=more weight) then the bow will be slower and the arrows react stiffer and shoot left. There may be a clue to the speed in your sight marks, but that would require spot on nocking point match with old string and probably long distance before it shows up.

maybe il try a fastflight string to see if that makes any difference and gives the arrows a bit more weakness, we shall see

String....

You said that the serving is thicker and heavier on the new string...are the arrows "tighter" on the string - this could slow things down and produce this kind of problem, I think.
