Which sight to choose (poll)

Ok, the two sights I'm keen on are as follows:

Shibuya Dual Click Standard Sight

£79.82

Merlin Archery; Shibuya Dual Click Standard Sight

Sebastien Flute Standard Carbon

£71

SF Standard Carbon Sight

Be interested in which you feel is better, or any others to consider for around the same price (n.b. not interested in Arten or Cartel sights).

Cheers, Dave

I've not tried either, I went straight for the Shibuya Carbon one though, and I love it.

I chose it mainly on build quality, ease of adjustment and weight, that was it.

Check them out in person if you can, that might help you decide.

Hope that helps

Im in the same situation. I can not decide between the dual click, great sight and well made, or the Sure loc contender x, also a well made sight and good history.

Any thoughts ?

They are of archaic design, fall apart every few shots and the olympic sight extension bar twists. Apart from that, nothing.

I've currently got an Arten Europa....design looks adequate compared to others and I have never had a single bit of it fall apart - its rock solid.

On the down side, its probably not the lightest of sights, but fro me its not an issue.

I have also heard that Arten's customer service is excellent!!!!

Dave, it's a bit like asking "how long's a piece of string"!

There are plenty of previous posts on this exact issue, even these exact sights; last one was a poll if I remember correctly and non of them prove anything they just give individuals a chance to promote whatever sight they've bought.

Judging by the fact you've already dismissed Cartels and Artens you've obviously been asking about and received the current prejudice. Cartel actually produces at least one decent sight in the Cartel Carbon which, as it happens, is more or less a faithful reproduction of the Shibuya Dual Click but with a carbon extension. From what I've read elsewhere the quality is a distinct cut above the norm for Cartel and at £49.95 (Bowsport) it's a bargain. For a similar price to the standard Shibuya Dual Click you could also pick up the Cartel Triple Carbon which seems to be a faithful copy of the Shibuya Dual Click Carbon Extreme which, when I got mine cost about £160. I don't know much about the Artens but again there's plenty of opinion on here and elsewhere (even on this thread!).

At the end of the day the role of a sight is only to hold the sight ring where you can see it, the rest is down to personal preference, ease of adjustability and how much you want to spend.

If it's of any consequence most of the Korean Team archers use the Shibuya Dual Click in various forms.

Some fantastic responses - many thanks.

I'll take another look at Cartel - though some of the kit I've seen of theirs I'm not impressed by.

I have an Arten sight - I hate it. It's annoyed me so much (like driving a Hyundi Getz with the wiper stick on the wrong side of the wheel) - I'd never get another (or drive another Hyundi!!!).

What I want from a sight:
  • Left handed option
  • easy to take apart/put together
  • easy to adjust
  • built nice and tough
  • Light, and well balanced
  • will last me for years
  • will not come loose - shake, rattle etc

I don't know if I can justify spending more than £100 for a sight; though the ultima carbon does look lovely.

I've had my ultima carbon for a year now, and it still looks mint, like it's just been bought. I looked at a few, and to be honest any dual-clicking sight will do you for ease of use, but if you're gonna go high-end, the sureloc's are also very nice indeed.

I'm not planning to ever change my sight unless it breaks, well, maybe the sight ring, but that's it.
