Button/plunger question

I'm just about to change my button for a new one. Never really had to mess around the old one as it was set for me.

I've got the Shibuya DX button. On the large nut there's two small holes with the screws inside. Are both these screws for unlocking and then locking the pressure adjuster screw at the end of the button? I don;t want to start messing with the threads.

eg set the position with the first locking nut and then unscrew the two threads on the big nut and adjust the screw at the rear then tighten the two screws in the large nut?

Don't touch the small screw that locks the big nut to adjust the tension of the button undo the small screw nearest the end and then turn the grub screw in the center then tighten the small screw to lock it up again.

Yes, that is what I do. Then the allen headed screw compresses or releases tension on the spring.

The screw on the end cap but closest to the riser is for releasing (or locking) the end cap. The only time you'll need to use it is if you need to take the button apart for cleaning or to put a different spring in.

Where can I buy spare screws for the buttons? A friend has given me one and the screws look a bit worn... or is there no hope and I should give the button back...

[Edit] Just read a thread on using plug screws (the wire bit)... but it's slightly too big! I think I'm gonna pop to B&Q tomorrow...

I don't know the size of these grub screws off hand.

Quite a lot of archery equiptment tends to have imperial threads, you may find these hard to come by in B&Q. Try your yellow pages for nut and bolts stockists, they supply to industry but are often very helpful if you can call by for one offs.

2mm wide but very short (probably 3mm).

Yeah, I thought that afterwards last night too. Might actually try Maplins (they use small screws for computer stuff don't they?). Worst case, email around archery shops and beg for spare screws!

As an emergency in most instances you can use the screws in side plugs the ones that hold the wires.

That's what I've tried. Maybe I've got a wierd plug!

I haven't tried using the screws from my Nintendo DS Lite yet... but they're 3 point screws... not that I'm gonna try anyway!

I'll pop into maplins at the weekend.
