| looking for something kinda odd My girlfriend has a problem with her arm that does not allow her to hold a bow at 90* her arm stops between about 60* and 45*. I was wondering if anyone knows of a place where I could purchase or order a riser with a angled grip so she could hold her bow straight. She's getting fustrated since she can't hold her old bow straight her aim is all over the place and she's caught her arm with the string on release which is very uncomfortable. |

| Do you mean that she cannot raise both arms up to make a T shape? If so, is this without a bow as well? I can only sugest some pictures, or go and see a coach for some sugestions.

| I think it's going to need a diagram or a more clear cut description... I think you're describing a problem with canting the bow (i.e. not able to get the bow vertical). Then again, it could be a description of elbow extension (or over extension). If she can shoot "properly" with the other hand then that's the way to go. Failing that almost any traditional bow & a field course will see her in good company (as well as removing a lot of the brain ache about aiming with a sight) Come to think of it, a photo of the bow arm might be more use than anything, short of the club coach.

| Its a medical thing her arms don't rotate as much as regualar people's do. most people can rotate from palm up to all the way to palm down she can't. she used to but it has gotten worse and the only fix is surgery where they brake the arm on purpose to refuse it. I'm not sure of all the technical stuff about the surgery but that the short version. |

| Still need to clarify - is this a problem with the rotation of her palm such that it is always at 45 degrees or so & pointing the palm at the floor, or is the palm always pointing at the roof? If it's the former then that fits with the style enforced the the Jaeger/BEST style grips & is actually what most of us are aspiring to. That style of grip (home made if you're just trying things out) may be the way to go. If it's the latter & both arms are the same then there's a real problem for which the only answer I can think of is to use an asian bow & shoot off of the thumb with a thumb ring. (Or use a crossbow etc. etc) [Edit] What's happening with her bow hand??

| One answer, if she really can't get the proper hand position (I would advise working with a coach first) might be the "variable bow" Ide-Teknik Bertil Olsson
