Arrow Wrap Deflection

Will the use of arrow wraps cause a deflection of direction as it passes the button. Just running a finger over the arrow, detects an edge. What does this mean for the arrows flight?

Does that bit of arrow even touch the button?

Suggest having a look at some slow motion footage such as the Beiter stuff. The net effect is going to be nil, or near enough. If you want to get picky, then there might be a slight effect resulting from the extra weight at the back of the shaft making it stiffer, but that's going to be a pretty minimal one in most cases.

As shirt says, it should'nt be an issue if the bow is tuned correctly.
Personally I think alot goes into arrow design. Seems a shame to bugger it up with sticky tape.

The original question indicates a fundamental misunderstanding of tuning, since it is posted in recurve q&a (as opposed to compound where it might indeed be an issue, albeit very slight...)

As opposed to what... at least four options of nocks, and an enormous variety of vane materials?

If you run your finger over the shaft of an Easton Axis FMJ you'll see the logo consists of about 5" of "sticky tape".

Another thing to remmember is that if all the arrows have wraps on, that you shoot then they are all going to be consistantely the same !

I can carry out a test on tuesday having stripped 3 Fatboys of their wraps. Can also test against 3 bareshaft Fatboys. This will be indoors so it is not as critical as shooting at distance outdoors.

Must? Why MUST there be a difference? That bit of the arrow is nowhere near the pressure button as it goes past, and unless you have ridiculously long wraps it won't be on the pressure button at rest and so won't affect your centreshot if you still set it by eye.

I think 99.5% of archers have better things to worry about than a tiny edge...I'm with Tom on this one.

I have just watched the Beiter video http://www.wernerbeiter.com/en/produ...deos/video.php
The rear of the arrow makes no contact with the button. Anything past the first quarter of the arrow clears the button.Lables, fletchings wraps.
