though... those are WIS bosses and not WAA ones... but i still agree that its shocking cause i put an ACE through with enough force to put the pile back up the shaft last year

No I would do what I did yesterday to the same question. I would put one of each down on the desk and show them the difference.
I would then tell them about my experience with them. Most do not buy them, but they rarely argue afterwards. Afterall it is alot of money.
Never had anyone say they were a waste of money either.

As Flying Whale said, it wasn't meant as a criticism, your description was ideal, but it just seemed odd to describe the difference and then say you couldn't.

When it comes to these points I find that few people accept most explanations for them, in particular if they are shooting under 1320.

Another key thing is, how many points do you you need to be competitive in a FITA? If you need about 200 of them then don't stress about tungstuns. If 1-5 points can drop you from the medals or the record books then you will spend the money required.

ive had an X10 pass through a target stand by a good few inches with SS points and come out fine, off a recurve too - napolienne was there and saw it too.
OK.......you are aware that recurves hit alot softer than compounds right?
Also my comment was not a "but a SS points would have been destroyed" but it very well could have bent.

In essence they are an aid to critical tuning for longer X10 shafts without the need to cut an extra 1" off the shaft in order to accommodate the 1" long Stainless Steel (SS) point, as opposed to the Tungsten Aerojet point which is only 1/2" long with a shorter internal shaft.

According to Vittorio Frangilli in a related post on Saggi they aren't really needed on shaft lengths under 29" as a useable FoC can be obtained with the SS points. Relating to Recurve shooters here obviously.

Sagittarius Archery Blackboard :: View topic

Frangilli made a statement earlier in the post that "None in the world of top archers is shooting X10 with SS points" and it was being pointed out to him that the Korean Women's Team use the SS point including Park Sung Hyun who certainly falls into the "Worlds top archers" category.

Hehe amen to that. That gives us stainless steel point users some confidence that the X10s will work the way we expect and hope they will. Time to get the bow out for some SPT

To be honest who cares if the koreans use Tugstens or not? Most of them I have seen at the word cup events shoot samicks but not everyone shoots samicks in the uk. If you have the money (and shoot x10's) in my opinion they are better. If you cant afford them or dont shoot x10's then its an irrelavent subject. I dont think the benifit of tugnstens is a noticable effect over a 6 arrow end (maybe 2 points at the maximum).

Why do we always get caught up in "no im right" conversations.

sorry lack of sleep!

I guess it's something to do with freedom of speech, internet forums and the fact that just about everyone has an opinion.

One thing that amazes me is that the number of 'experts' on this forum vastly outnumbers the number of very good archers (and of course good is subjective but I mean good enough to have proved by their scores that their opinion is founded in fact and not just something they've heard 2nd or 3rd hand and thought they ought to share).

Theory is one thing, proving that you understood it enough to put it into practice is ........ priceless

Simon
