Sights. I wanna new one.

Hello folks.

I think I'd like a new sight. I've got the basic Cartel beginner's sight - very much like this one : http://www.archeryuk.com/acatalog/Bo...ecurve_63.html, the Cartel Midi Extension sight - but I want to know, first of all, if all sight windows are basically the same. Circular "frame", little pole, little ball on top of pole? Well, I'd like a thinner pole and a smaller ball. (Settle down at the back, there, and stop that giggling). Or are there other competition-legal window options available? And I quite fancy the micrometer screw adjustment.

Anyone any suggestions? Bear in mind, though, that spending a fortune is out of the question, due to recent expenditure on something else I didn't need at all but really wanted anyway.

Thanks very much

Stephen

RE: Sights. I wanna new one.

I can recommend the Sure Loc Contender X, that's got the micrometer screw adjustment - but at £112 it may be a bit more than you want to spend. It also comes with a Beiter sight tunnel with no little pole and a small dot. Although I'm thinking of replacing it with just a ring and letting my small befuddled brain do its stuff with concentric circles

RE: Sights. I wanna new one.

I have recently bought an Arc Systeme SX10 from Bowsports. Nice, easy adjustments, click stop, carbon 9" extension, smart plastic rods that gather the light and illuminate the centre of the recticule. does not get the shakes. I am really happy with it, no case but fits the cartel one at £4.

RE: Sights. I wanna new one.

I use the Striker X05 (not Beginner), it sells for £27.50 at custom archery and leather and has micro adjustment on the vertical and 'click' adjustment on the horizontal, paste the link below and then on the Blue name and you'll get a photo. Not a bad sight for the price !!
It's not olympic level, but i've hit plenty of golds using it.

this is an old thread, but...

Hi all,

Any recommendations on a mid-range sight? Have been using one of my club's Cartels - nice that they can lend us a sight at all, but the vibration loosens the adjustment and it must be checked constantly, so I'm ready to move on. Striker X04 has been recommended (thanks clicki!). Booster Optima is also recommended on the Merlin website - anyone tried one of these?

Well , Im a member of the Shibuya Dual Click fan club.

Great piece of kit

A few at the club use a Striker X04 and they seem not bad for the money.

But its the same as anything else, you get what you pay for.

i was using the same one as you for a short while when i started but got very fed up of the plastic flexing when you take the shot.

Bought a cartel 2000 ( same as on the page you linked ) for something a bit more solid as its metal and similar design, has microadjust and its rock solid for the price. Really like it.

And you can get beiter sight tunnels that will fit it with crosshair, empty ring sight whatevers your preference.

I really like my Arten Olympic, but they are a bit pricy. However the sight pins (which canbe got separately) allow you to change to different types of pin or aperture. I favour the four blade with an empty centre arrangement, but then it is all down to personal preference.

I think it's the Cartel Tournament (not to be confused with the 2000) that we use for beginners at the club. It's all-metal but there's no micro-adjustments - in my frustration I've actually nicknamed it "macro" adjustment (screw is half-stripped & shakes loose, so you just move it where you want & get one of your friends to hold it in place while you shoot ).

How does your Cartel 2000 hold up after a few ends? Does it move from it's original setting or does it stay put? I'm reluctant to get another Cartel - even a step-up model - if I'm going to run into the same problems, if you know what I mean.

However, I do like the idea that Beiter sight tunnels will fit the Cartel! And I do like the price...
