Trembling at full draw

Good day all.

I've recently dropped from a 68" 38lbs limbs with 41lbs on the fingers to 70" 36lbs limbs with abt 40lbs on the fingers. i have a 29" drawlength. And whenever i come to full draw, i'll tremble like a wobbly jelly. i can manage the poundage. It doesn't seem to be off any problem but it's the shaking that worries me. This hasn't happened before with my 68" 38lbs limbs. Why does it happen now? is it because of the change in limb length and poundage? or is it just me? the trembling is really really annoying as it happens to be involuntary and it sure as hell ain't helping with the aiming. Pls assist me in this.. It's really getting on my nerves.

Normally the first thing that comes to mind if someone is trembling is being over bowed. If you are shooting the same weight as before, didn't tremble then and are doing so now, something else is amiss.

My first guess would be a change in form causing you to use more muscle. Proper alignment (form) allows the use of as little muscle as possible. All the talk about being relaxed is because of this goal. If you are trembling the new set up may be causing a change in your form. You may be using too much muscle instead of bone on bone support. Get a coach or an experienced shooting to watch you. Maybe they can pick up what's wrong.

Good luck,
Dave

Ohhhh you beat me to it, I was going to say exactly the same. One other thing to consider is the make of the limbs, in my experience 36lb W&W limbs are roughly the same draw weight as 38lb Hoyts. When you say you 40lb on the fingers have you actually measured this with a scale?

I know of one very good and experienced compound archer who shakes like mad if he goes over 5 seconds or so at full draw. Take the arrow off and he has no problem at all!

There is no reason for the bow to cause the problem, as the longer the bow, the easier it should feel. Therefore if you still have access to your old bow, try it and see if the trembling still occurs. If it doesn't then get the draw weight checked on the new bow, (as rediculous as it sounds).
What ever it is, it'll be something so simple...

Two thoughts:

- Could it be the physical weight of the bow plus stabilisers has increased?
- Is there a resonance problem? If you have a positive feedback loop, then you might get a wobble.

If you change the set up of bow and stabilisers, it might go away.

hmm.. i've been going down to the gym lately.. is this the problem..? i may have built some muscle that hasn't got to do with archery.. And the new muscle mass gained is affecting the muscles used in drawing the bow and keeping it steady.. i really think this is the problem.. wat do u guys think..?

I asked that same question to my coach before..

I was still pretty young at that time, and he dismisses my question by saying: " Just go shoot more luh"

=.=

A good coach probably wouldn't do that. Anyways I think the gym training isn't the cause of the problem. Unless you're shooting before you're fully rested from all work. Like Paul mentioned, I'd suggest trying the old set-up again to see if you have the same problem. Surely that will give you an idea whether it is form related or equipment related?

I shoot Winex and they are very smooth, so unlikely to be the problem as you have gone down in weight.

If you are using a clicker then it may be set incorrectly and causing a slow shot... hence the tremor. How long is your shot sequence from pre-draw to release?

Could it be that you are over-aiming?

Are you hunching?

I disagree, in fact I would go as far as to say that in some circumstances, thats EXACTLY what a top coach would say.
