Hoyt risers don't like non-Hoyt limbs ?

Hi,

I have heard from 2 different sources now that Hoyt risers shoot best with Hoyt limbs. Does anyone have any info on this ?

Also, I tried to put a club members Winex limbs into my Nexus riser, and they did not fit very well, so poorly that we did not string it up. I also observed the same Winex limbs fit just as poorly into an Eclipse the next day. I was seriously considering buying some Winex limbs, or even some Inno's, but now I'm not so sure that they will fit. Can anyone shed some light on this ?

Many shoot Win and Win on Hoyt. However Bow designers will design the limb and bow to shoot together. However I doubt any difference is noticable.

This is because there is no such thing as an International Limb Fitting, and therefore no official standard for people to work to. The Hoyt fitting was simply copied by other companies. So, sometimes there will be problems fitting limbs and risers from different manufacturers together.

Mind you, I have seen problems fitting limbs and risers from *the same* manufacturer together. So there are no guarantees

Like many others here I shoot Win & Win on Hoyt (Winex on Matrix) and have no problems with it. All I would say is if you are trying an unusual combo is try the limbs in your riser before buying them.

i shot W&W XQ-1s on a Samick Ultra. for the first week or so the fitting was abit stiff, but it got better. the bow worked absolutely fine and shot high scores, but was quite noisy, despite any and all tuning efforts.

you don't need to look very far to see great scores shot with unusual combos; like winex on a BMG, or Samick Masters on a Matrix, or G3 on an Exfeel.. there should be no problem with the shooting consistency of the bow, just as long as you can actually get the limbs into the thing.

I've had a Hoyt Eclipse and now have a Hoyt Helix, and I've never had Hoyt limbs on either of them! I've had Samick Universals, W&W Everest Pro and now Samick Extremes, and cant say I've had any fitting problems at all.

I suspect what you've heard is a one-off story.

One of the people who told me about Hoyt risers shooting better with Hoyt limbs, than with Win & Win limbs etc, is a lady who shoots recurve for Aussie, it was just what she had found through trying different limbs. Now, because she is at such a high level, perhaps she can detect things which an average club arche like myself couldn't. The other person was just relating what he had heard somewhere, so that carries a lot less weight.

I have Samick Universals now, and one of the other limbs I am interested in upgrading to are the Extremes. I haven't heard anything bad about them, other than some saying they are noisy, although others have said they are very quiet. Did you compare your Extremes to any other limb before buying ? How do you rate the build quality ?

I've shot W&W limbs out of a hoyt riser with no problems in the past, but I've alse experienced problems getting hoyt limbs into a W&W riser (simply were too tight to get into the limb pocket).

As always, try before you buy.

I originally went from Univ's to Everest Pro's, and the leap was amazing. The W&W's were smoother, and a lot more forgiving. Sadly they delaminated on me, so when I took them back to the retailer the only limbs they had in my size/weight were either Extremes or G3's. I shot about 3-4 dozen back to back with both the Samicks and the Hoyts, and the Extremes were a lot nicer by far (in my opinion). The G3's felt soft and spongy, whereas the Extremes were a lot faster and punchier. The build quality of both were lovely, but the pearlescent white finish of the Extremes is just gorgeous. Unfortunately Samick have now taken to putting a logo into the top limb, which is under the laqcuer so it cannot be removed, and it says "Unleash your possibility".... I suspect they were looking for the word "potential", so it looks a bit naff. Other than that, I cant fault them.

But as limbs they are totally and utterly beautiful, in all respects!

I've never owned a pair of Hoyt Limbs, but I've always shot Hoyt risers.
Hoyt Helix and Border Limbs - a perfect combination apart from the limb bolt problem.

Kae.
