Is it necessary to use a clicker ?

Is it really necessary to use a clicker to shoot at a high level ? Does anyone know of people who have shot to a reasonably high level without one ?

Yes, a clicker is mandatory. If you don't use one, you'll be locked up. Forever. And we'll eat your share of cake and drink all your beer.

No confusion, this is in the recurve section afterall.... may be more a case that I was being a little silly.... I'll try to behave myself

Though I suspect that there would be very few top archers who would shoot without a clicker, if only for the fact that they will all have been taught to use one!!!

Shoot Barebow Recurve and they won't let you have a clicker on your bow.

That'll teach ya! (smiley face goes here)

They can also be your worst enemy...if you let 'em.
Make sure that your clicker is set for your draw length , so you are still comfortable at the loose. Get your coach to help you set it up. Remember a clicker is there to help you... do not let it be the boss. Some archers will loose as soon as they hear the click, ready or not (A bit like Pavlov's Dogs).
