yes it is but for arrow lube we have just started to use Scorpion which has the consistency of vaseline and seems to work very well.

I'm sure it is but I get enough abuse of my fellow shootists without getting the KY out to lube my shafts....

I've been using a liquid tire wet dressing, though I can't recall the name - Tire devil or black magic or something. (Don't ask me to defend those who think this is necessary for their tires, or the inevitable idiot who puts it on the tread of the tire and crashes his lovely show car.)
It has health warnings about petroleum distallates, but does the job well using silicones.
We generally use foam targets, so the wear issues may be different. I used it to refill a commmercial slick stick tube when the shop said it worked fine.

I use the silicone stuff sold specifically for archers. Can't remember where I bought it. Works good for me.

EDIT

iT's "Lube Tube" from Bowsports

Dashboard silicon spray, made by Simoniz - available in all Halfords and motor accessory shops. It's brilliant! Makes your arrows feel really smooth, and you'll never get those nasty pieces of straw sticking to them again.

And as they are so smooth, they fly through the air more cleanly too (or at least that's what I tell myself!)

I use Lube Tube. It is better than nothing, but does wear off the arrows and they need replenishing. I will try the Halfords silicon silicon spray.

That was the lube-tube. Consensus here seems to be that it is rather short lifed - also the tube tends to leak a bit so you need to keep it in a sealable bag!

Shoe shine sponges have silicone in them, I used to have a small freebie one from a Hotel that I used, I topped it up with cheap generic automotive silicone spray. Which I also spray on the bow (nuts & bolts etc) during the wet season (Jan to about December ).

No need outdoors now as I use FMJ's, but occasionally on very hard bosses indoors I still use a bit.
