Ah ha, I understand now.

That's the problem with text-based media. Misunderstandings.

Just to clarify - I don't have a problem with the limb being priced so low; I just believe that in order to get the price that low they may well have made compromises on the material. Personally I'd prefer to use a proven wood/carbon limb if I was on a tight budget.

Oh, right! Well, when I first went to try them, I wasn't sure about them, as they were new out, so when I bought them, I made sure I talked at length with Tony about them, to make sure they were the quality I was looking for. I've certainly been happy shooting them - and produced some nice PBs!

He seemed very confident that the low prices weren't due to corner cutting, rather to a low mark up when selling them on. This is something I've heard is most noticable with Hoyt - everyone sells them because you can put a huge mark up on them!

Interesting comments about the mark up on Hoyts - that's certainly not the experience of the dealers I've spoken with, although this doesn't include CBA.

OK, the thing about Hoyt was just what I was told, which could well be wrong, (and wasn't from CBA)

Makes you wonder what the actual mark-up from cost of production is on a set of limbs.
It wouldn't be the first time a manufacturer has sold the same product using different names in different price bands. It means they get the 'premium' market with a reasonable profit and hope to corner the 'middle' market with a product that is of very good quality compared with the competition. On this they make a lower margin but still make the money through volume sales, whilst enjoying the scale economies that come with higher production volume. The brand differentiation ensures that there will always be people prepared to pay the higher price for something that is recognised as more expensive.

Not that I'm saying that this is what's happening here; but it's a possibility. Someone earlier suggested the SF limbs may be Everests re-branded.

As I mentioned when I started the thread, the limb is markedly different in finish, curve and possibly even the materials used

However, W&W were quite open in the past about their budget range of limbs (Wintech, or whatever name it happened to go by at the time) being the same as the W&W branded limbs, only not made to the same tolerance.
