I beleieve that you have perhaps not understood some of the advice offered by most of the guys and gals out there. As a beginner (like me) the need to upgrade to more advanced limbs will almost certainly be a necessity later on if progress is to be made. The initial outlay at lower cost can therefore be beneficial long term, but to be fair, the beginner could buy the very best riser to start with and retain that, just switching limbs and possibly other equipment.... an option I have already considered, pondered and re-thought. ( Nexus is still an option though) ![]() ![]() Before I have even started to look at specific equipment to spend the dosh on, other archers have helped me to understand (partlly) that it may be a wast of money going for the very best to start with as the resale on that when you do change will not be good. From the short time I have been involved, I am understanding that the other, more experianced archers are trying to help and have all been in the same position as ourselves. By the time you/we have been through your beginners course, you/we may have changed our ideas slightly and strarted looking at the - not second best- but the best to start with. Have a good day! Malcolm

Thanks for your input on this. I reallyu do feel that if I waited a year I would be so stresed out that I would not continue. I have alreday got the message to wait until the course is finished and have arrangedcthe stating blocks in the hall for that day !!! The SF is one of my first choices also. Good shootinmg Malcolm

| Reply [quote=FlourPower;221389]A friend went to Custom Built Archery for her first set up and I can say I was fairly impressed with how they worked with her. I went to quicks, they didn’t have the bow I wanted and so I had to go online. Bowsports provided the bow (sans instructions) although there appeared to be a basic set up with regards the rest and nocking points were in the right place. I then returned to Quicks for arrows. Hi Flower Power, Thanks for your help, KAP limbs are already on my list with SF also and the XX75's are also there but possibly with some Jazz for more practice and that is what I am using at present. Holding on the the walet at present, but it;s hard !!! Good shooting Malcolm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

| Hopefully you're not one of the many who buy new kit within a month of starting, expect it to make you a better archer and then get frustrated and stop. Want to know how much immediate benefit i got from switching to a KAP Suprise bow over wooden bow? None. SF set-up? None. G3's? None. Obviously it helps to have a bow you're comfortable with and can get a clicked/stabilizers set up for you on. Just don't expect the shiny bow to make your arrows hit the middle cos they won't Dont get frustrated about your kit so much and work on technique ![]() | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Reply [quote=darthter;221397]I finished my beginners course on the Tuesday, and went shopping to Eastcote House on the following Saturday!!!! (That was about 18 months ago...) I opted for the following: Hoyt Eclipse riser (close call between that & SF) KAP Challenger limbs - 32# 70" Arten Europa sight Shibuya DX Button Easton xx75 arrows (2016) - uncut!!! Petron Magnetic wrap-around rest First extra purchase was a long rod. Then in May, I changed to Carbon Impact arrows for outdoor use. Hi Alistair, the riser, limbs and button are all on the list already and I'm pleased to see that they were a good starter. Appreciate your input. Good shooting ![]() ![]() ![]() Malcolm

thank you for your advice. I had already downloaded the Recurve document and read it through, so it is always to hand now. I have also read three archery boods, all of which have been enlightening. The advice on a good sight is what others have advised and I believe it is sound advice, so will make sure a good one is investe in to start with many thanks again & Good shooting Malcolm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
