| I use 18 strands of Majesty. Choose black and then you won't have glare problems with the white string if the sun shines, this even happens indoors. |

| I've shot Majesty, 8125 and Fastflight. Fastflight - I would rule out completely, it just doesn't feel very nice compared to the other materials. Majesty - my personal favourite. Its got a very nice punchy feeling and is pretty quiet after the shot. 8125 - nice to shoot and pretty "soft". My preference is Majesty which I will be going back to for this season. All I need to do is make up a new one and kep my 8125's as spares. Edit: For nocking points I use waxed dental floss. All I do is tie the nocking point and then heat it gently with a lighter - that way the wax melts and coats the nocking point and holds it together. |

| I'd say I've found the same as Speed regarding 452x and 8125, I have a string of each and will be comparing them outside soon ![]() |

| I use 17 strand fast-flight plus, in black. White strings just look too wide when close to my eye and too much light reflection. I use plain old No4 for the top and bottom loops I don’t have any “double overlap” in my self made strings in the same way as the shop ones. I like Angel serving and serve higher up than shop made as I use a kisser, this serving is very slipy some people don’t like it but as with most things when you make your own strings you make them how you like. I tried Dimondback serving as someone in my club said it was great, it’s very hard-wearing but I just did not take to it. I made six strings up last time, three of which I kept for this years outdoor the others were just not perfect, maybe just a couple of mm difference in serving length or something like that but not good enough so gave them to some of the other club members. They reckon my “rejected” strings are still better than anything they have got from the shops. I use cotton for the nock points tied on and then super glued in place, another very good shooter in my club then coats the cotton in “hard as nails” nail varnish it makes the nock points like little glass beads and he swears by it. |

| I use 14 strands of BCY '02, don't see many people using it though. Not sure if there's anything wrong with it, I find it a great material. Very low creep, no stretch, and a very low wax finish that I like. I've been serving with BCY Halo, which is very similar to the smooth Angel serving, and availbable in more colours ![]() I'm just starting the whole string making game myself, my serving has seriously improved when switching to a beiter winder. Much much smoother tension than the cheap BCY tool I was using. Also since I swapped from continuously serving the endloops to using the figure of eight method my end loops are looking much nicer and can't be pulled apart anymore!

| Ive tried majesty, 8125, ASB and excel and i have to admit i like the excel the most since its a nice soft shot compared to the 8125 which basically just stops dead. the majesty is nice but too thin for my liking the ASB is nice but a bit slow the 8125 is really loud on my bow since it just stops but it is very fast. and the excel i found to be the nicest since its softer than the 8125 but as fast as the majesty since my sight marks are the exact same which impleased about. but thats just my opinion best thing to do is try lots of different materials from people shooting the same set up and see which ones you like the most. nocking points i use beiter or anchor tape for a quick tuning point.

| I've recently started making my own strings too. I use 18 strand 452X 'cos it looks nice, is available in the colours I wanted, is low stretch, fast enough for my needs and is waaaaay quieter than the FF+ I was using before. Loop servings are Brownell No 4, centre servings are Angel ASB (very thin and slick) and nocking points are Beiter for consistency. I'll probably up the strand count to 20 for the outdoor season but am waiting for my new limbs to arrive to check for length first.

| wow.. i seem to be on my own here.. I use Dyneema 02 (blue) 16strands with BCY #62 XS serving and i'm finding it to be very nice to shoot.. but you have to take about 1/4 off the recomended string length for the bow (or thats what works best for me)

| Well I've made my first string I used 18 strands of 8125 and a Beiter #2 nocking point. I'm a bit concerned that the nocking point doesn't fit too well and I lost 4 nocking points yesterday so I;m thinking of losing a strand or two. Opinions? Ta
