Upgrading Limbs

Need some advice from more expert users.

I started shooting 8 months ago. Bought an inno riser and some cheap 36lb limbs thinking that with time I would have moved up in poundage and got nice carbon limbs.

The time has come as I find it difficult to go past 70m with these.

I think I cannot go up too much in poundage as I have shot 36lb only for 4 months.

Is there any milage in getting a good set of 38lb that I can then use to shoot indoor with my current arrows forever [or for a long time] and and then get 44lb next year for the summer season? Or is it better to use the same limbs all year round?

Alex

I have 32# limbs and I can hit 80yds. Maybe it's your arrows and not your limbs!!

Arrows? He's shooting ACEs - how much faster/lighter could they be?!?!

I'm no expert, but a few things to consider:

1) Do the arrows not reach 70m, or is it your sightmark that's the problem? You can always bring the sight in, even to the point of 'inverting' it.
2) Get someone to check your bow is tuned reasonably well. The right bracing hight, string, etc. can all help get a bit more distance without more lbs.
3) Can you increase the poundage on your current limbs, or are they at the lowest setting (I believe W&W risers come at the lowest setting, out of the box).

I can reach 80yds with 34# limbs (although they are G3's) with navigators - a relatively heavy recurve arrow. With ACE's you shouldn't really have any problem reaching 80yds (and further), so it is quite possible something is wrong with your setup/tune. A couple of questions if I may:

What is your draw length?
How high is your nocking point?

These can both cause problems with longer distance, particularly if you have an abnormally high nocking point.

For limb recommendations, as I say, my G3's with relatively heavy arrows can reach 80yds with no problem and 100yds whilst bringing the sight in at a reasonably low poundage (I only hold around 32# due to a short draw).

Felt bad and so at least tried to post something helpful after my initial remark (hence the edit)...

I have also shot 80 with 34 challenger limbs using a/cc arrows. I have just upgraded my limbs to HOYT 300 carbon after using challenger limbs for nearly 2 years. I think you need to play with your sights a little and re sight at 80.
Have you bought a new string or adjusted your bow in any way?

What is your drawlength Macchia? It would be helpful to know so we can get some idea of what poundage you actually have on your fingers.
