Should I get a clicker??

Hi

Been shooting about 2 months, excluding beginners course.

I shoot reasonably well. Do i need a clicker??

If so which one? What size for a KAP Winstar 2.

Cheers

Kevin

Do you need one? We could debate this for days.

Is it a good idea - without a doubt.

If your form is consistent and your arrows the right length then get someone to help you set it and off you go. It's a discipline but not a difficult one.

depending on how much you shoot even contantly shooting after 2 months you could still be expanding.

consistant arrow draw length decent DFL then put a clicker on it will gain you points in the long run.
but my way of thinking is at this early stage you would be shooting to the clicker, could end up forward loosing, due to not getting it on your back
but i would say wait till the start of indoors, before you do. unless your a natural and grouping already. and by that i mean grouping at 60 yds not 20 yds

clickers though this discussion could go either way

I will probably get flamed for this but in my oppinion people rush into getting a clikcker way to early (just like rushing to shoot long distances)
If you shoot reasonably well do you need a clicker ? I would say if you have only been shooting a couple of months, No you dont you have plenty of other things to think about, I belive good (correct) clicker use takes at least six months to learn.
I cant imagine after only a couple of months your draw length will be consistant enough to make a clicker worth while .
Please bare in mind these are only my oppinions but I waited a couple of years before I felt I needed a clicker and then I saw a big dip in my scores (100 points+) while I was learning correct use of the clicker and this is was with access to a top class coach.

You can't put ability into a time frame unless you know often said archer is shooting!! Me being the smart #### I am got used to the clicker in a few days.. I couldn't see what all the fuss was about!! (I got the clicker towards the end of my 1st indoor season when i scored 550 on a Portsmouth). As typical with archery... everyone is different and no fixed rule can be applied!!

ps... my draw length never changed!!

No problem I probably didnt quite think about that part of my post very well
My coach is Paul Adams, I think I can safely say he is one of the top recurve coaches in Lincolnshire with over fourty years experince.I should of said acess to a county level coach in my original post .I hope I didnt mislead anyone

Pete... you can't condemm every coach who isn't currently of a high classification, some may be coaching now rather than shooting!

oh english archer please dont apologise to me. there is defo no need for that.

i meant if the coach was top class E Archer wouldn't be 1st class

not dead yet.....cynical pete........

could there be a job for an archer as a coaching complaints officer.
run it along the lines of the child protection.
guilty untill proven innocent.

i'd take a pay cut for that job.

IMO yes you should get one.

Start as soon as possible.

The clicker is not just a draw length check and it is vital to learn to use one as early as possible.
