| i just got one of these - Bowsports Tools and used it tonight to strip the wraps / vanes on my arrows before refletching - havent tried a zip strip but this thing is great if used with a little care - a bit of hot water and 11 shafts were stripped totally clean ready for rewrapping in less than 10 minutes slainte rob

| It depends one your level of manual dexterity, TBH. I have always worked with tools and so find that I can quickly and easily remove vanes from alluminium and carbon shafts with a craft knife or scalpel without any damage by using the correct pressure, angle and technique coupled with a very keen edge. Some don't have this level of skill with hand tools and so a dedicated tool like the zip-stip is possibly a better bet. Just be careful of the emporer's new clothes syndrome that surrounds some products in this game. Perhaps you could experiment on some club shafts by volunteering to help with maintenance or maybe borrow a zip-strip from a club member to try it out.

| please be aware stanley blades etc can slither the carbon on carbon arrows. also using solvents can attack the make up of the carbon composite. stanley knives used at own risk pete | |||||||||||||||

| just to clarify and to follow up petes post above - the tool i linked to is a stanley-type knife but has modified blades with a blunt semi-circular 'notch' cut into it that sits round the arrow shaft and 'cuts' the vane / wrap away without digging into the carbon slainte rob
