Thanks Chris B but which weights do you mean? That links straight to the alt services front page. Under Stabilisation/Weights I find the cartel compound hunter being 5/16 and Leven industries but nothing that would add 140g to the bow.
oh damn & blast. sorry about that, i forgot it does that when you link to altservices..
my friend uses 2 x the cartel hunter weight. (2x70g)
i think the Leven weights might not be appropriate as they are not 'male'.

That was my thoughts about the Leven weights, I figured I could get a headless screw.

I'll give the hunters a try. Thanks!

Hi,
I still have a big bag of 5/16 UNF x 1.1/4" with hexagon socket caps.

I use(d) these for attaching various weird and wonderful weights to my Goldmedallist.

I had some success in bonding the top part of the bolt into a small plastic cylinder, and using electronics encapsulating resin to fill up the interior (this resin is heavy in itself, but I buried some large washers in there as well for extra mass).

The resin gives some shock absorption, without actually using 'shock absorption devices' to attach the weight, and the cylinder is tall enough to move the weight out and away from the centreline of the bow, without actually using a 'rod' - it's a one-peice weight.

AIUK reader 'Bundy' is still using one of these on her barebow Winstar, officials are yet to complain!

I have also used these bolts to attach a small (but weighty) stainless steel pressure manifold to the bottom of the riser, which completed the balance of the bare goldmedallist.

The next stage was to be making weights by casting the bolt heads with smelted lead in a sand-mould, and then coating with something called 'plasti-dip' to make it safe and pretty. But I've bought the Nilo now, so my experiements have come to a halt.

If you feel the need to experiment yourself, I can send you some bolts in the post.

Better yet, if Reading get to Outdoor BUSA are you going to be there? We could exchange in person.

From this side of the pond I can't speak to your GNAS rules. I can tell you that when I showed up for our State FITA Indoor Championship, the equipment inspection included a 4.8" circle test for the Barebow shooters. I suspect that if it is a FITA event and they recognize Barebow for a non-field event, they are going to follow FITA's Barebow rules and those are found in the field section.

Okay, so i tried the hunter weights this weekend and they felt alot better, however I could do with a little more weight to balance them and i'm not sure if the one in the long rod bushing could be construed as a sighting aid (despite the fact I can't see it because of my hand the mass's diameter is larger than my bow is wide.)

Does anyone know where I could get custom weights built? Or an easy way to add mass to the hunters?
