| How much weight do you think you'll need? If you need a lot custom made/purpose made barebow weights are going to be best. Don't SIMS make this kind of thing? I'd say give the standard stabiliser end weights a go but I don't think they are the same thread size as the stabiliser to riser threads... Edit - standard stabiliser bushing size on any riser (apart from a yamaha) is 5/16. Stabiliser weights are 1/4, so you'd need a thread adapter...

| I do not believe that they have the same size threads on end weights or rods. Apart from maybe the old sherwood ones I was told about on Sunday. Who are Sims?

| btw if do make or commission your own weights note there are two pitches for 5/16 threads, also important if you need to be taps or dies. Thread Pitch Chart I can't remember which one it is for sure is used, I think it could be the more spaced out one (18 threads per inch) but someone will know.

SIMS website here - I'm thinking particularly of their "modular node" Other weights with a 5/16 thread (see Altservices website): Cartel Compound Hunter weight (a mere £3.79), and *possibly* the weights that go with Doinker dampers/rods.

| Hmm is that not a little long. The rules around these weights for barebow are fairly vague. I'll have to wait till I get home as well to makesure that diameter couldn't be used as a sighting aid. Blu-tak and card time!

| my friend uses two of these, one in the long rod bushing & one above the lower limb pocket. together about 140g; Archery Shop & Archery Products from Alternative Sporting Services if you need more weight, get them custom made as moomop suggests.

| All the risers I've owned had 5/16-24 threads for the stabilizers and counter weights. FITA rules have two specifications you need to adhere to. First the unstrung bow, with weights in place, must pass through a 4.8" rigid circle. Second they must mount directly on the riser with no extensions, cushions or dampers. If you stick to that you should be legal. Dave

| I thought the rigid circle was only for field. Looking at GNAS RoS there's nothing mentioning the circle until you get to the field section where it says something like "in addition to the above stuff for recurve barebow..." Thanks Chris B but which weights do you mean? That links straight to the alt services front page. Under Stabilisation/Weights I find the cartel compound hunter being 5/16 and Leven industries but nothing that would add 140g to the bow.
