I can see a way to explain how it might happen, but i couldnt explain it by writing. Its a bit far fetched.I was more concerned that anticlockwise loosened the serving

| Please try... I just can't see it otherwise, unless the starting point was not truly zero twists.

The only explanation i can come up with is that maybe the string retained memory from being twisted clockwise and so when twisted opposite way this somehow altered the way the strands sat together.I have to admit that this theory lends itself to making the string shorter not longer,so i'm just as perplexed as you. You seem to be a lot more interested in this subject than i was.I would have gladly posted you the strings so you could have confirmed my findings, but they have been binned.I brought custom made 65" string which i find ideal twisted clockwise.Looking at my new Hoyt manual its the length the recomend for a 68" bow.I,m sure they spend a few quid by way of research so who am i to argue.

| I don't know how far this can go if the issue of 'clockwise or not' is a controversial one... But that aside - if the way the serving goes in relation to the string twists is important, then what of the direction of twists in the raw material before you make the string and twist it? Are they already in opposition on either side of the 'endless' string? If you serve your end loop with the flow, when you bring the two sides together are you serving one against the other? Does it matter? If so, who to? Not the likes of me (in terms of results), so to those that it can/does make a difference to - well done! ![]() Its nice to ponder these things occasionally - but sometimes it just makes my head hurt!!!
