Button depth?? HI Tried searching for this unable to find anything. How far should the plunger stick out of the hole in the riser?? Just about to embark on tuning my bow, obviously this needs to be right first. Thanks

There are two starting points for button depth, depending on what tuning method you are following. One has the button sticking through far enough to place the arrow on dead centre shot.(If you view the bow so the string appears right down the centre of both limbs, the arrow, when in place, should appear hidden behind the string; not pointing left or right compared to the string line.)This method also starts with the button set to rigid.See James Park method on this forum. The second way has the arrow pointing just to one side of the string line when viewed as described earlier. For right handers the arrow pile points slightly left of the string; enough to see 1/8" arrow width at the pile. This method starts with the button set to medium, which is softer than rigid but not so soft that the arrow moves in towards the button when under the clicker.

I've found this small pdf from Easton very useful and it may give you a better idea of what's going on, sometimes it's diffcult to 'get your head around' the daftest things so please post any question you like. If we could all learn everything by simply downloading things then we wouldn't need this forum eh? ![]() http://home.att.net/~sajackson/tuning_guide.pdf I wouldn't bother with paper tuning bit for a recurve though

Paper tuning is essential for a recurve as it is the only way I know to tell if you have got the knocking point at the right height on the centre serving...

thanks, that archer reference is amazing. don't agree with the using a stabilizer rod to find the centre of the bow. will do the paper test, this afternoon probably. thanks again there is a lot of material there. which probably means i won't need to ask so many questions here, which will please little miss purple ![]()
