time for a clicker?

Dont use a clicker.have no coach, been shooting 11 months at local club. Will be bowman and have a FITA star very soon(no bragging intended )Are there any MB's out there who dont use a clicker.I ask because i got "the bug" and would like to get to MB by the end of the year Not sure what to do:

1)should i stick with what i'm doing(and maybe waste my time trying to go further) or move on to a clicker and re learn how to shoot "proper".I,m gonna have difficulty because i sort of push to trigger.I also shoot 6 arrows in about a minute.I've been told and have read that this is very very poor form.I agree but its working so far.

2)or should i stop having dellusions of grandeur,go and see a doctor and get some calming down pills

All advice, rude, funny or serious will be considered

No, get one and learn how to use it as soon as you can.

Quick tip i've been trying, and i bet the coaches will disagree, is as you are about to come to anchor just have a quick look at the clicker and get the right length. By this i mean stop pulling when you see the clicker deviate towards the point of the arrow. Push from your front shoulder and pull from the back elbow, thus keeping pressures on, so if you do a sloppy shot you are more likely to get away with it.

Practice this on blank boss, no target face and it will get ingrained but it is as boring as you like.

6 arrows in a min? is that 2 arrows on the string at the same time?????

Do a search on "clicker" on this forum.

there have recently been some lengthy (and often heated) discussions on the "right" time to start using a clicker.

lets all avoid repeating those same arguments ad-infinitum again here please!

my only tip - find a good coach and get some personal advice. 300 people telling you what worked for them isnt necessarily good personal advice

So, First Class at best (so no guarantee of Bowman, let alone MB); no FITA star (and no guarantee). Also given to extremely rapid loosing, and other factors suggestive of form problems. IMHO, to reach the next level, you need to slow down, get a coach (or at the very least sound advice that you will listen to), learn to use the bow, and get a clicker. Without that, squeezing the extra points you need to get to the next level will be nigh on impossible. If you feel like carrying on as you are, it is almost certain that you will get frustrated and throw your equipment in the cupboard under the stairs, for your grandchildren to find after you are long gone. IMHO, of course.

Nowt like crushing a man's dreams FF?!
Though I do agree with the rest of your comments.
I wonder how much archery equipment lies forgotten in the cupboards under the stairs and under the beds of this country.

Hi Addo,
Don't be put off by some on the forum, it's a good idea to find out what the best level they have shot to before taking anything as fact (imo). As you're first class you're already at the max level I'm trained to coach to ( I only shoot mid-bowman level) So it's really a 'county' you're looking for. Have you any buddies that can shoot well? are they using a clicker?would one of them be able to assist.
Clickers are important and you sound as though you shoot very fast.

I taught myself clicker usage when I'd only been shooting a short while, so it's not that difficult but it's much easier to have a third party assist.(try to get somebody that has a track record though)

Good luck this year and stay keen

I doubt any coach worth their salt will disagree with this. This is how I was taught to use a clicker by an ex GB team manager and had been reinforced by talking to other top archers. Except one thing, don't stop pulling, mearly slow down.

FRUSTRATED????????

Its sunshine & gigglesd for me,wether i shoot 1200 or 120 FITA's.

If i'm gone anywhere for a long time,my bow will come with me.The only thing my grandchildren will find under the stairs is Harry Potter
