Someone at my club has shown me a Jager best grip for a right handed archer,i.e bow held with left hand.I held it and it was horrible.Someone else then remarked that it may be a grip for a left hander,so i held the bow with my right hand,and low and behold it fits like a glove.We all have doubts now as to wether the grip sent is for a left hander(bow held in right hand)

I've had a look on the Jager website and all the examples seem to slant in the same direction and i am assuming they are for right handed archers.This would make the grip in question the right one.

If the grip is for a right handed archer,as i am,then i would consider buying the same grip,but for a left hander.Has anyone done this?

IMO, unless your hands are oddly shaped, I would advise against using a lefthanded grip for a righthander or vice versa. If you do this, then it's likely you'll end up torqueing the bow. or rotating your wrist out of line. If it really does feel comfortable for you, then perhaps you should try it, but with caution.

I had a quick look at the jager site on the "best" main page and yes, they're all right-handed

According to Jager, a left handed grip will not fit onto a right handed riser....probably to do with the hole placements.

So basically, if it fits your bow, its the correct grip!!!

The Jager grip does feel like it is made for the wrong hand I agree, but only when holding the bow without drawing it. If you draw the bow up, and have good hand position then you will find the Jager grip really helps, it just feels a bit uncomfortable before you draw up

A lot of good advice there, but just to focus on the torque issue:

It is entirely possible that the grip on the new bow doesn't quite fit your hand, and allows torque.

It is also possible that something in how the riser is set up (limb alignment, pressure button, spine match, brace height, whatever) is not helping.

Or, you might be going through a rough patch of form and are simply blaming the grip because it doesn't feel quite right. (My advice in that situation would be to get one that you have faith in, it really helps with confidence).

I put the Hoyt Ortho grip on my Nexus and have found it a lot better than the standard grip - fits in my paw a lot better

I'm gonna try the Ortho before i make up my mind

I flattened my standard grip on the left hand and face side and it feels much better.I got a feeling that the higher wrist position of the Ortho will suit me,so i'll do the same to that and see what happens.

I really fancy some of the Loesch grips.Anyone have experience of them

Loesch grips are lovely. They feel very nice in the hand to me personally. I don't own one as I like to play with grips, so stick with cheapies and get the putty out... but having shot one, it felt pretty much right straight away.

Only issue I've seen is one example of the laminates splitting down the middle of the grip - but this was due to it being badly fitted in the first place. Loesch replaced the grip without quibble and provided advice on how to fit it properly, it's been fine since.

The left/right issue on the Jager grip is one that's cropped up a few times. From the experience of those of us in my neck of the woods, if you think the grip is for the wrong hand then your bow-hand position needs looking at.

I've stepped back from the Jager grip for now. I loved the bow hand position it helped me attain, but while my bow shoulder alignment is much better than it was when I started it still can't cope with a grip quite that high for more than a few dozen arrows. I've gone back to my old low Loesch grip, which is lovely. At some point I may try a medium Loesch or even have another go with the Jager, but I'm sticking with the Loesch for now.

addo - I see you've now put an 'want' up for an ortho to modify. Just a thought (having recently discovered the wonders of milliput) why not 'ortho' a standard grip? should be easier (and cheaper?) to get hold of, and the putty is a doddle to play with
