Another sight pin question....

Does anyone change their sight pin for different distances....

ie. Open, round sight for shorter distances, then maybe a crosshair for medium, and something different for long....

When shooting 70m last night, I found it more difficult to align the concentric circles compared to shooting at 30m, and started thinking that maybe using a pin would be more usefull.

Your thoughts etc please....

I have heard of a few archers who change the size of their open ring for different distances so the aperture matches the gold at each.
Just a thought, when you found it difficult to align the open ring at 70m was that because you were using the gold as the reference? What would happen if you tried to surround, let's say red, at that range?

I use an aperture but use the same one for outdoor and change to a larger one for the indoor season.

I have a Gehmann Iris sight. So I can open or close down the diameter.

you can get adjustable rings, so they can easily be opened or closed for different distances. The Gehmann Iris is a good example

I use different pins for indoors and outdoors.

The flibre optic Shubiya sight for indoors.
Outdoors I use a Titan with the smallest pin and set with the widest appature.

Genereally, I was using the gold as reference. Didn't have too much of an issue really, but will try focusing more on the surrounding rings rather than the gold.

Bit of a tip for those who dont know.

A Beiter sight tunnel has changeable sight apertures. You dont have to unscrew the sight pin and screw another one in.Just flick the aperture out and replace with another in about 10 seconds.

Incidently, does anyone know if other manufacturers apertures fit into the Beighter sight tunnel.I got the 8mm one and am looking for one with a fine crosshair

I don't think so, no. The only other one I'm aware of is the Arten sight pin, which uses a different system of inserts.
