| I've recently changed to open (4 days ago ) as it allows me to 'open up'.I use a 'high draw' and my upper body twists at the moment to bring me into line. As I'm still in the early stages of the change things will progress slowly as keeping hips open throughout the shot is uncomfortable I changed for more stability and this stance seems to offer hope in that direction hope this is of some help ![]() |

I changed a month ago and to an open stance and its really helped in windy conditions. Its also stopped the string from hitting my chest guard. In practice i've gone from shooting 37h/c scores to 30ish h/c scores. My improvment isnt all down to the open stance but it is the major factor i think

| i changed about 2 weeks ago, after a clubmate showed me something. if you stand sideways on, then get someone to gently push your shoulders you can wobble forwards and backwards very easily. with an open stance you seem to be a lot more solid. the only downside i noticed was last weekend when due to not yet being used to my more open stance i shot my first two into the boss one to the left of my one thinking that is the one i was lined up with!

| i prefer closed stance, with an open stance i get lower back pains after awhile with the twisting into position. and also it gives me a tendancey to get out of form easier by hunching shoulders. (for me persoanaly) so i stand closed and upright, head up wich eliminates for me addo's problem of the sting hitting my chest guard, but as we are all different you find the style that brings out the best for you, and you wont know that unless youty out different ways.

| If you are the same shapw as mee with a large obstruction just above waist height (Big Belly) then an open stance is the only way to get the string past it![]() I close at the shoulder although it does tend to get tired quite quickly being in a weaker position than in the closed stance ![]() |

| 1. I find that the string presses against my chest if i have a closed stance and i also find an open stance a lot more comfortable. 2. Close at the shoulders leaving the waist open. Photo from Kisik Lee's website: ![]() |

| After my question the other week about the same thing, im shooting half way between the 2, as this seems most confortable to me ![]() Rear foot as in the picture, but front foot isnt quite so "open" My form is still changing, thus who knows if its any good, but so many people say its what "feels" the best, and it does to me! |

| Slightly open stance You have to be fit and supple to do as KSL suggests otherwise form can suffer towards the end of 12 dozen. For me it's enough to remember to stand up straight sometimes. |

| I found that a more open stance felt more comfortable than being closed. Also i was steadier and tended not to lean. I had a problem that if a shot took too long or i was shooting in windy conditions, with a closed stance i would wobble and start to lean, so by opening up my stance i gave myself more balance and stability. Hope this helps! pmiddl: start by standing with your body in line with the target (closed stance) and then open it up before you shoot, that way you will be facing your target, and it will help familiarise yourself with the feeling of the open stance. Or alternatively I could push you over this time!! ![]() |
