Teflon vs. Aluminium plunger tip

I've forgotten this, and the forum search is turning up nothing, so would some kind fellow archer please set me straight:

If you have a plunger with both aluminium and teflon tips (or nylon, or whatever sort of white plastic it is), which one do you use for carbon shafts?

Thanks!

When I started in archery, there were allu. arrows and plastic tips on the buttons.
Since then, carbon arrows came out and eventually, metal tips on buttons.
From that I guess the metal tips were brought out for carbons.
Carbons have rougher surfaces than allu. and again, guess, they wear plastic tips too quickly.
I imagine using them the other way round will still work.

Teflon tips work nicely with all types of arrows, as does the metal tip on my Arc Systeme button which I've used for many years with alus and carbons.

Teflon has the advantage of not making a squeaky noise on alus, however it can (will) wear down over time and should therefore be checked occasionally.

Metal tips don't wear down, and while they do not damage either type of shaft (as long as the bow is even remotely set up) they can create a squeaky screechy noise with alus.

I understand that both Beiter and Shibuya believe that teflon slides more smoothly inside the barrel of the button, as Beiter provides teflon tips (I only know this from observation of Sparkling Jules' new button, as I've never used one myself) and the Shibuya "Gold Tip" has a teflon plunger. On the other hand the Spigarelli Click Button has a synthetic tip on a metal plunger.

I suppose the conclusion of that is that any material is ok as long as you make sure it's in good condition and it doesn't disturb anyone.

I do have a real bad squeaky sound when I shoot my X10s off my beiter plunger tip in a cartel plunger body. Doesn't seem to affect accuracy and my plunger tip barely shows any signs of wear if any. I did however get a ton of ugly wear when I was using the cartel teflon tip though...

Uh... that squeaky sound may be because the plunger doesn't quite fit the barrel if you've mixed two models. That's not really advisable.

I think it is caused by the arrow rubbing against the plunger tip because I haven't had any squeaks when I press the button by finger, incredibly smooth and exactly like my friend's Beiter too and he too does have a little squeak when he draws his bow.

I guess I forgot to mention that we shoot at painted cloth targets and some of the paint from the targets have in fact ended up on our X10s although they can be removed in a few seconds by peeling

Do you use a clicker it could be the clicker is slightly bent(twisted) and the arrow is rubbing either edge.

Yeah I do in fact use a clicker and I kinda bent it down a little to "personalise" the sound of the click a little on my beiter clicker. Perhaps I could try adding some lube to the clicker tip and see what happens when I shoot tomorrow, thanks.
