Arco sport Spigerelli version - I have never shot one of these so can't comment. Built by people that know what they are doing, but you should always try a bow before you buy it and that might be difficult in this case. Ask Schme for more info as I think he's sponsored by them.

Hoyt Nexus - Good bow, uses Hoyt's new grip and will outshoot the majority of archers. I use the Helix (Nexus but with a tech bar) and love it. Have you thought about trying the Helix as well?

Hoyt Matrix - A fantastic bow, used to shoot top scores, still loved by many. Not often available new but many second hand bargains to be had.

Win & Win Pro accent - Haven't shot with this bow but I've heard good things about it.

Merlin elite riser - No comment.

As always, try everything you can beg/borrow/steal before you decide.

Kae.

ive shot the spigarelli VBS 2001 and currently shoot a merlin elite

as far as i can tell the spig vision is similar to the older VBS i have- fairly heavy but shoot in a VERY stable way - i had to add loads of weight to my VBS to get it to react after the shot

the elite is a little bit lighter but for me feels way more lively to shoot which i like

both of these risers have a very easy to use limb alignment system which can be adjusted with the bow strung (although whether this is actually recommended i have no idea)

both are well made and excellently engineered

both have (to my mind) pretty poor stock grips (a medium one on the merlin and a fairly low one on the spig) - i shot / shoot a jager BEST style grip on both

if it was a choice between these two i would probably go with the elite - nicer (marginally) to shoot and british made by a small independent company

never shot a hoyt (except zoes eclipse which i find harsh in the extreme) so cant comment

a club mate has just got a pro accent (moved from winstar > eclipse but didnt like the harshness so has ditched that after 6 months and got a pro accent) which he loves so far saying it feels much more forgiving and better balanced than the tec bar hoyt

I have a Nexus and Matrix and they are both excellent bows. I prefer the nexus due to the grip, but thats a personal thing and theres plenty of custom grips you could get for either bow.

remember a riser is just a stick to hold the string,

its the nut behind the wheel that drives the arow to the gold.

but IMO a Flaming Aerotec

I've sold all the Hoyts I've owned (1 Gold Medalist, 2 Matrix, 2 Elans) but still have the Spigarelli 2001s after 4 years of constant shooting.

Because I'm a Barebow Recurve shooter I am predisposed toward the Italian makers. My prejudice aside Spigarelli, Best of Italy and Made by Bernardini make excellent risers.

Close but no cigar matey boy. Im a big "Supporter" of Bernardini. I currently shoot the Luxor 27. Im currently shooting some of the best and most consistant shooting of my life. In one month I shot a 912 and 916 for an albion. The weekend I managed a 56 and 57 at 70 mts. If money is not a problem I really suggest trying the new Luxor 27. The riser length means it sits better in the hand and is one of the most stable bows I have ever shot. And the quality is excellent. Visit my youtube page to see it in action.

With regards to the other risers menthioned.

Arco sport Spigerelli version
Hoyt Nexus
Hoyt Matrix
Win & Win Pro accent
Merlin elite riser

However they all fail to impress compared to the Luxor 27!!!

I don't know much about the Spigarelli or Merlin, but between the other three I'd recommend the ProAccent over the Helix and that over the Nexus. Reason is stiffness.
