I have one of these at the mo: Quicks Archery and it's kinda gone all floppy recently. anyone recommend a cheap magnetic stick on to replace it ? Thanks !

I've been very happy with a Cartel rest (Quicks ZL01) I fitted when I got my new riser 8 months ago. It's simple well made and does what it need to do. It still looks as good as new so I think it will last a long time too.

I changed from a Hoyt Super to a Soma for the same reason, it went a bit floppy. Soma is fine, not much to go wrong, solid, and quite cheap. I know a couple of people who use them with no complaints. Just make sure you get it right first time when sticking it on, same with all stick on rests.

ok, so one of these Quicks Archery and one of these Quicks Archery i know it's kinda naive... but what exactly does a button do ? from what i can work out, it's used for centralising the arrow in relation to the bowstring ?

I'm struggling a little with the concept of a button myself, from what I understand it compensates for the side to side flex of the arrow as it leaves the bow, the button not only keeps the arrow centered when it is on the rest it also seem to act like a suspension strut in a car smoothing out the arrow as it leaves the bow and stabilising that wagglle motion which you can see in super slow motion films of arrows in flight. I've just bought one and will be fitting it in a couple of weeks time, they do seem to take a bit of tuning and there is a lot written about them both here and elsewhere. MB

The trick is that the "central" position isn't something you can directly measure, as the arrow depresses the spring of the button as you release it. Hence all the stuff (and to some extent, guff) about "tuning". You want the arrow to be "central" during the shot (as the string is pushing it forward). Which means you have to set it off centre, and set the spring tension so that it cushions it just enough to bring it into the centre line when you release. There's any number of different methods of determining the "right" setting for a button, and people tend to have their favourites. Just search the forum on "tuning" (and let your head spin).
