Layers on your tab

How many layers do you use on your tab? And more to the point, why?
Most tabs, I believe, come with a face, and a single backing. Obviously more layers are more comfortable, and for higher poundages this is a consideration.
But for average poundage pullers, what made you change (if you have) and what are the pros and cons in three or more layers?

i have two layers on my joomong

the face is the standard (and pretty thick) soma leather and i use OBeron for the backing as its thicker and more comfortable than the felt / suedette stuff soma use as standard

(pulling just under 40lb on the fingers)

Two layers - cordovan and OBeron facing. 41# on fingers (which surprised the hell out of me..). My fingers are fairly tough so damage is not an issue, and with more layers I just can't get the feel right.

Hello everybody

I have a layer of Oberon on top of my AF tab. I fitted it as a test and left it. 55lbs on the fingers so it's quite comfy.

Bye bye for now.

55lb on your fingers, with limbs at 42# (I presume at 28") & shooting 3rd class!
Allowing the usual rule of thumb you either have a 34" draw length, or the limbs stack something rotten, or one part of that equation isn't quite right.

thats what i was thinking linecutter

hoyt is +/- 5% yeah ? - so even fully wound in thats 44lb at 28" so 55lb would take 33.5"

with 32.5" arrows !

stacktastic !

been shooting a cavalier elite tab for about a year with a leather facing and the softer backing it came with ( buckskin i think ).

as i have gone up in poundage it has gotten quite uncomfortable as the leather is very thin so i am giving oberon a try.

I've taken the leather off as it was a little too short on the index finger, was getting a sore patch on the end of my finger where the string was whipping it on the way out. Now using red oberon as the facing, with the original buckskin backing.

shot a comp this weekend so only fitted the oberon tonight. Only tried it with a dozen or so arrows out the garden but it already feels more comfortable and smoother on the release than a shot in leather tab.

nice stuff

Shortly after going to the Cavalier Elite tab from a Black Widow I started developing heavy calluses between the first and second knuckle of all three fingers. A FITA shooter I know suggested I try the rubber backing Cavalier offers between the Cordovan and the suede. I did and liked it from the start.

I still get the calluses but not as quickly or as heavy.
