Question Stabaliser set up?

I was trying out a new stabaliser set up the other day, my old set up was, Carbofast Hydro Extention, Beiter V-bar/ 15" siderods with weights/ 3 tuner long rod with weights.

In messing I took a page from the compound book, took off the siderod on the sight side of the bow and then just for messing again I screwed it into the top weight hole on my riser. To my shock it worked amazingly, my arrows flew faster and straighter, my bow sounded quieter andit dropped much faster and cleaner! Who would have thought?

What I was thinging is to put my siderods back to normal and get another rod or big doinker weight addapter thingy like I have seen people screwing into there top weight position, would this have the same effect as a full side rod?

By all means play around, but if you think that you've found an ideal setup bear in mind that it may not work consistently. Most of us have found something amazing that no longer works after a few days! My preferred stabiliser setup is one that I stumbled upon accidentally years ago, and is fairly different to many other archers.

As for whether a short top-rod would have the same effect as a sidebar (I think you said 15"?) then I'm afraid it wouldn't. It would be shorter and probably lighter.

A considerable number of top Ukrainian archers use a sidebar as a top-rod, which seems to work well with their (fairly unique) technique. I'd suggest that you get another sidebar.

Intresting...... I was thinking of having a convensional set up and getting another short rod to put as a top rod, I think it may work with my form, which by the way is nuthing like the Ukrainian's!lol

Can I just ask one thing? Are your limbs set with tiller and if so, how much? I notice they are TXGs. A short top rod will have the same effect but smaller as it is shorter and lighter.

I also don't know if there is a relation between Ukrainian form and Ukrainian bow set up, just that both are unusual!

tiller, the difference in string distance from the limbs at the top of the riser and the bottom of the riser

Ok, that's normal for Border limbs. It's just that sometimes an incorrect tiller can require strange stabilisation to compensate.

In this case, go for it!

was quite common a few years ago before they changed to the current set up. the thing is THIS works for ME
it may or may not work for others, everyone is different.
