8125 Strings

Hi

Not sure if I've posted here before, but I've been lurking for a long while.

Now I've searched this and read quite a lot on this here board, and it seems that Stu369 is the man for 8125 two tone strings. I've searched for him in the Members List but he's not listed. I've been to his website and emailed him from there and am awaiting a reply.

So my questions are has he changed his screen name here? Is he still making strings? Or do you know of anyone else making them?

I've contacted Bling Strings in Oz but I'd rather go a tad more locally.

Hope you can help.
Paul

Go with them too - Greg Hill makes excellent strings.

Stu369 had a sense of humour failure and decided to deny the rest of us his company. Oh well, his loss not ours. I gather he has now had some sort of a crisis and has left archery altogether, at least for the moment.

Plenty of other string makers out there...I got mine from HNL in the USA, but I think there are a few UK-based string makers who might be found in the darker corners of this forum...

Making your own strings is pretty easy and loads cheaper. I've bought a Greg Hill string last year, while it's the best made string I've ever seen (perfectly round, strands perfectly evenly twisted etc), it was no better in results than a home made effort. For the price of one of his strings you can buy a 1/4 spool of 8125, make a jig, and make 5 strings.

There's loads of guides on the web and in books as to how to do it. It's also really satisfying to make your own string and find it's a good'un.

FYI I'm round about 1200 fita/1100 York level. I better archer may be able to tell the difference, I doubt a Bowmen class can tell. No offence intended if you can. I've compared Dynaflight 02, 8125, fastflight, endless and Flemish twist, but I always get about the same results. For me, I find that it's number of strands and bracing height that matters, not material.

Dave French at Centreshot Archery makes excellent strings, single or multi-coloured - in pretty much any string material.
