how can i get in line

hi all

it seems to me that getting totaly in line of the shot is impossible , but im hopeing im wrong , no matter what i try i cant get my elbow back far enough the line up with the arrow , is it possible i can learn how to get in line , or does one live with fact that some people can and some people cant .

im at my maximum draw with a deep side anchor , and i dont know what else i can do .

IME some people just don't line up like that at full draw. There are a couple of members at my club whose shoulder and back alignment is thrown "out" by the way they're built (wonky). They still shoot well.

On the other hand, try rotating the shoulder back around the joint with *just* the rear shoulder and back muscles when you're getting up to full draw, using more of your back muscles the further back you get. If your alignment is suddenly correct, you'll know you've just been lazy.

Apologies if you're already doing this but unless it's causing serious problems I wouldn't worry too much about getting it absolutely perfect. Back tension is the key.

pretty much the opposite of the above.
Dont be rotating shoulders and trying to move elbow back etc..... GNAS myths
alignment is driven by bow hand, tab hand and rear elbow being in line at full draw. Shoulders must then be in line parallel to this line.
common failings are trying to use "back", rotating anything and consequently over drawing.
ALSO
Your major problem is your side anchor! they dont work and destroy alignment. see other posts on this matter

All I know on the subject is that my scores have improved considerably since I:
a) stopped focusing on elbow alignment
b) stopped rotating shoulder blades and thinking to much about back tension
c) moved away from a side anchor
d) made the shot more simple for myself

If you can, find a good coach who you can work with. They can look at what you're doing and give advice based on helping you to achieve the most consistent style, rather than suggesting the things that are good practise.

Don't get me wrong, there's good advice here, such as getting good back tension, as this is founded in experience of the problems that many archers have encountered over the years, but it's no substitute for good coaching. It's better than advice over a website (does that include this, though?!)

Not sure. Though we have some very good coaches at the club, none of them are available at 6.30am on a Saturday morning when I shoot. It was listening to advice from people on this website that got me to bowman last year.

Caveman.
You know what to do. so stop being a prat and wait till uncle jim gets back.
otherwise your gonna end up all over the place and in a muddle, AGAIN, with your scores in the toilet..
for now do what your doing with a lot of focus on your release.

That's pretty early! Perhaps you could persuade one with a promise of coffee and danish or something!

If you feel you're getting what you need from the website, then that's good. I posted my earlier comment because I believe a coach can assess the whole of your technique/style, rather than just offering advice on elements of it. The key message is that if you decide to ask for coaching, do it with someone in whom you have confidence and who you can work with. Good luck.
