Arrow Rests

After destroying several arrow rests over the weekend, I have decided to have another shot at either a wrap around or a magnetic arrow rest. (I used to have the stick on w&w magnetic flipper, but got really annoyed at it and ripped it off in a fit of rage because of all the fletchings which it shreaded!)

I was wondering which rest do you use, and would you recommend it?

Its sounds like you have a major clearance problem.

I would double check all the bow setup to ensure everthing is correct. Personally I use a Spigralli GUA which has never caused me any problems.

I agree- sounds like clearance problems. So I would check that out before investing in a new rest.

I use the Spigarelli Zero Tolerance - a wrap around magnetic. These are apparently specific to bow models/manufacturers.

It's an pretty good rest, but better than the cartel thing I had previously.

I would quite like to try a Spigarelli Spigua, but I can't justify the expense atm.

Before you jump to conclusions check you nocking point height with a bare shaft tune, it could be low which would cause the fletching damage you describe.

It doesn't take a major clearance problem for the W&W flipper to rip fletches -- it's notorious for it. A fluffed release is enough.

The best wrap-around rest is probably the Cavalier Free Flyte. I use this on my compound when finger-shooting it. Just get the ordinary version, though -- the Elite version that costs more than twice as much isn't worth the extra money.

The only problem with the Cav is that it's held on by the pressure button, which can make things fiddly if you need to take the pressure button out when transporting the bow. If you prefer a stick-on rest, the Cartel and Spigarelli flippers are good.

Spig zero tolerance for me also. Had a few spinwings shredded at Bronte on Sunday over 3-4 ends, couldn't put it down to anything in particular as the problem cleared itself and never recurred during the Canadian.

Had the W&W flipper and discarded it after ripping fletchings left, right and centre. Bad design IMO.

A pair of Spig zero tolerance for Win&Win Indoor setup for 5" fletchings on Fatboys, plenty of clearance. Outdoor setup for Navs with 40mm flexfletch.

A club colleague with a pair of Win&Win alloy carbon risers uses Spig Spigua and has realised that the corrosion marks on the top edge are from his spinwings hiting the rest. He has moved the body back and adjuste the wire out to compensate. All without the aid of lipstick, which is how I told him to check out his arrow flight and noise problems.

Daktarin is good for checking clearance.

I found you need a couple of layers to get good results.
