| Samick Ultra Agulla Anyone seen one of these anywhere? Saw them on the Samick site, but I can't find any UK retailer that sells them. Mostly just curious how much they cost and where they fit in the Samick range as I'm currently looking at the standard Agulla for when it comes time to get my first bow (that or the Winstar 2) but might have a little more to spend details here: http://www.samicksports.com/e_sub_02_01_02.htm |

| Thanks. I must have checked every BUT alt services. It's almost as expensive as the Master, puts it well out of my range |

| Samick Agulla You won't go wrong with the regular Agulla - It's a great first bow, but as always - try before you buy. Whatever you choose - enjoy

| steer clear of winstar at the moment. I don't know about winstar 2 but the current batches of normal winstar have been diabloical. I dont want to go into detail at present but will very shortly

| The shop near me sells a lot of Winstar risers and has had no complaints thus far. I'd be interested to hear what this problem is. |

Since the beginning of this year we have noticed a serious deteriation in the quality of Winstar risers. The cause of our concern is the machining (or lack of) of the limb pocket dovetail keyway ( the slot the button on the limb sits in). We have noticed this problem in at least 5 risers where the lateral (sideways) movement of the limbs when strung is excessive. In 2 cases the suppliers have agreed to exchange the riser for a Samick Agula which is, in price, the competitor for Winstar. With the last riser received 2 weeks ago the problem was so apparent that we took measurements to quantify the problem. The family in question had purchased 2 bows which I was given to set up. An Agula and a Winstar both with KAP challenger limbs With both sets of limbs the Agula had an insignificant amount of lateral movement when strung. probably less than 1 mm at the limb tip. With the Winstar we got the following measurements taken at the limb tip limb set 1 - top 4 mm - bottom 4.5 mm limb set 2 - top 4 mm - bottom 4 mm To the uninitiated this may not sound a lot but It means that in the worst case senario the string can move sideways 4mm between shots. This gives little chance of achieving good grouping. Examining the keyway the limb button sits in we found that it did not appear to be machined and was also painted. Once the paint wore off there would probably be more movement. The Agula had clear machining marks and no paint. I would stress that we have only come across this problem since the turn of the year but suggest not recomending Winstar risers until the problem is resolved. If someone does buy one it should be checked immediately and an exchange requested if excesive movement is found. This all may sound abit heavy but the comment of " what do you expect at that price" from one supplier means if we archers don't make the point then no one else will. If it is too late and you already have the problem it may be possible to fit shims to reduce the movement.

| If you have extra budget, why not try the SF Riser. Re Winstar, there are a ton of them at our club without problems, most bought in the last year. I haven't seen a Winstar 2 yet. |
