Set it so at anchor you have 4-5 mm of point still under it, until you can master it. Look at it just before you aim too. Once on aim have a feeling of expanding your bow arm draw elbow in a line into the 10. TA explained a good way of getting the correct feeling. Hold your hands togther then try to pull them apart, then relax your chest and you can feel the back working. Btw, I am actually a very very poor substitute for KS Lee

#It will help. It may now be time for you to buy Total Archery

They will increase your score and favour use of correct#body usage. People who have problems are not doing it right. I'm sure there is another thread here that tells of the importance of draw length consistancy. This is why is so important to give beginners clickers as soon as possible, before they learn awful form, the longer they shoot that way the harder it will be for them to change.

Falacies spread by individuals who never managed to master them. Learning to use it with a decent coach is no problem whatsoever.

When your form is pretty consistent, then's the time to put it on the bow if you plan to shoot more than 20 yards competitively. "clicker panic" is less prevalent than "target panic/gold shyness" IMO, but you don't hear people referring to the gold as the spawn of satan

In terms of technique - simple - RHYTHM and MOTION. Fight off uncertainty and practice hard at developing a smooth, flowing, committed style and you'll do well.

If you find yourself "waiting for the clicker to drop", you've got it wrong... to be successful IMO, you need to "de-focus" the clicker, i.e. focus on the gold and the movement of the draw, and be ready to shoot the arrow. The clicker will take care of itself.

I like what you say Murray !
Using the clicker shall not become the aim of shooting a bow. This is only an aid that should tell the archer: you are very near to shot; are things OK? If no, don't shoot!

RE: Newbie: Just started using clicker.....

One good exercose I forgot to mention - draw your bow and aim, now draw through the clicker, and when it drops, draw a little more and then let down.

This servers several purposes...
1) if you flinch or loose, your clicker is controlling you, you MUST overcome this
2) it will show you just how far you can REALLY draw - video the clicker area, you may be very surprised
3) it helps lengthen and strengthen the relevant muscle groups.
4) it will let you see if you're pulling the arrow off the rest and only the clicker is holding it on
5) probably some others I haven't considered!

Best to do this at the end of a session - 5-10 times is probably enough

RE: Newbie: Just started using clicker.....

Draw length is everything. Without a clicker, you'll never get it right. If it isn't right, then you aren't using your clicker effectively.

I shoot a fair bit with my iPod on so that I can't hear the clicker. You just know that it goes off. If you don't let go when your clicker goes off, then you aren't using it right. It works the same way a back tension release aid does. If you are controlling when the shot goes off, then you are anticipating the shot and that will lead to inconsistancies.
