| RE: Newbie: Is it worth using stiffer arrows? Mr. Tapley probably has some data. . I've recently increased my draw length (moved clicker backwards) and it certainly moved my sightmarks quite a bit. When you think of the variables we use to tune - brace height, arrow length, number of string stands etc - 5mm difference in draw can make a helluva difference, not only to the actual sightmark, but also the spine of the arrow. .

| RE: Newbie: Is it worth using stiffer arrows? Mr. Tapley - who he? me Joe. I think, for an average male archer, you would need to move a clicker a bit more than 10mm at 90 metres to go from a 10 to a miss (about 5 fps speed difference). IMO main use of a clicker is to improve the archers' control of the shot rather than to nail down a fixed draw length - lots of archers with good technique do well enough without using a clicker. As mentioned differences of opinion on when to introduce a clicker. My own view is that you should start teaching beginners good technique from square one rather than the usual 'stick a bow in their hands and get them shooting any old how' (understandable as you're trying to kindle some interest). I don't think it would put beginners off by going through the basics for half an hour or so before they start shooting arows - and the improved results probably pay off in terms of generated enthusiasm. So I would go for using a clicker as soon as the archers' technique makes it feasible. As for things like using a V bar. Very few archers or coaches understand anything about their function so no useful advice forthcoming - more a case of 'get one because most people use one' . I'd agree with Furface that unless you understand the purpose and see some benefit from sticking smething on the bow, don't bother.

| RE: Newbie: Is it worth using stiffer arrows? Talking about clickers... I have been experimentng with slightly different draw lengths, a movement of 3-4mm of my clicker moves my arrows up and down, @70m by 3 scoring rings.#I can well see a 10mm movement as Joe said causing a miss @90m.# |

| RE: Newbie: Is it worth using stiffer arrows? Kinkychinky, to go back to your arrow problem, there are plenty of second hand arrows out there. I have just sold a set of ACCs and have sets of McKinny's ACCs and some xx75s and i am sure many people are the same. Over on the saggi blackboard they have a "small market" section where you can buy and sell stuff, it might be worth asking the question "has anybody got"... Hope this helps. |

| RE: Newbie: Is it worth using stiffer arrows? Thanks for the tip Slartibartfast. Unfortunately I have already forked out for some brand new Navigators. I'm hoping these will last me for a while. As for the clicker. I definately can't get to grips with it. It could be a case of changing too much in one go as I have now upped the poundage with a new set of limbs and am using using different arrows. Will try again when I settle into my new set up. |

Maybe Dave could set up something similar on AI ????</p> And while we're on the subject, i'm looking to buy either some A/C/C's (3-04, 680 spine), Navigators (610 spine), Cartel Triples (600 spine) or similar to suit a 34lb draw weight (soon to be increased)#at 29" from the#root of the nock to the end of the shaft. If anybody has any that they'd like to sell (at a reasonable price, of course) then please send me a PM !!!!</p>
