Kae, shooting of fingers with a compound brings new problems. As I am finding out. The technique of loosing is more exacting than with a recurve. Pulling into the back wall and loosing backwards off it is some thing that is totally different. Older compounds with very little let off are very like recurves. The only differences are due to the string angle and reduced weight. If I am pulling a peak of fifty pounds it drops to about 36lbs and no back wall so no problems with technique, same as recurve. The draw lenght is a little less critical, but not using the clicker properly will still give you vertical scatter.

Jerry Tee let us know how you get on with this as i shoot a compound with fingers and although i not had much criticism or bias towards "proper bows" i would be very interested in the result. a couple of times i have been told that i should have no problems hitting the gold because i am shooting a compound even though i still class myself as a beginner and im not shooting full distance regularly yet

I have my eye on some thing I'll let you know soon.

| I used to shoot indoor .22 target rifle, they are incredibly accurate pieces of kit, we are talking of variations of a fraction of a millimeter due to the equipment ( rifle and bullets). So do all rifle shooters get perfect scores every time? Of course they dont because no matter how accurate the equipment the shooter is still the biggest factor.

I seem to remember an article in Archery Focus a couple of years back that advocated a dead loose when shooting compound with fingers. Perhaps it's worth a look if you can find a copy?

You cannot compare performance with different types of bow, longbow, recurve and compound. There is a marked difference between technique and performance. I race and time trial on a sleek roadbike with nothing unneccessary on it, it is easily 12mph faster than my top of the range plus mountain bike, but the mountain bike will climb and decend faster and safer in an off road situation that it is designed for. Dont worry about others. You do what you do , for your own pleasure and enoyment Chalk and whiteboard markers, similar but different.
