Royal Toxophilite Society

Have been invited to Bowyers Day Shoot at Archers Lodge next Saturday. Has anyone on the forum been there, and if so, what can I expect for the day? Also, anyone else going?

RE: Royal Toxophilite Society

Well, shot at the "Worshipful Companies of Bowyers' Prize Day" at the Royal Toxophilite Society on Saturday.
What a brilliant day! Morning coffee on the lawn, then off down the garden to shoot a York round. After the 100yds stop for sherry then a sit down 3 course lunch with wine or beer, then back to shooting. After the presentation of medals by the Bowyers, afternoon tea then home. All the top heirarchy of the RTS acted as waiters, refilling drinks and clearing away dishes, made everyone feel a bit special. The day is a reward for the top 4 archers from each of the GNAS regions Championship shoots.
I suffered from nerves at the start, but managed to come tenth out of eighteen. Better than my expected last!

Dave may specialise in cake, but he wouldn't say no to a free 3-course lunch, booze AND afternoon tea, especially if shooting was also involved. Plus, we don't know whether or not cake was served for afters or with the tea. Was it a cream tea? Scones, jam and clotted cream would do nicely in the absence of cake!!

I think we need clarification from Jal.

There were scones and jam with the tea and also a very nice sticky ginger and walnut cake afterwards.
