| Hi, the Easton software suggests you need 520s in the Redline. Does the tape measure trick measure to the button (if so add an inch) or to the back (far side of the bow)? in which case 30" should be about right. I personally find the tape measure trick dodgy - get a longish arrow and draw up to full draw and ask somone (who trusts you) to mark it an inch (to inch and a quarter) past the button - I think that's more reliable than the tape measure personally. | I'll give that a shot, I think everyone trusts me enough at the moment (they haven't found all the people that got in the way yet! )I believe the tape measure trick was just for the bow, no mention of a button, and I don't have one of those yet (recommended?) I'll actually have to see if the club has an arrow that long though..... |

| Just a thought though, if the limbs are marked at 38# you might be pulling closer to 41#, in which case 460s. Have you measured the weight at your draw length?

| Down load the Eastern arrow selection software from here: http://www.eastonarchery.com/downloads.asp select the target tab, select recurve, set weight and draw length, and the recommended size for all Eastorn arrows will appear. What do you mean by "I used the tape measure trick to see my draw length which is 30" The only reliable way to check draw length is with an arrow (or a piece of doweling) and a friend. Pull to full draw and have your friend mark the arrow 1.5 to 2 inches in front of the button, do this several times to ensure consistency of draw. Also remember your 38 lbs limbs will only be that at 28inch of draw, for every inch over 28 inches will add 2 lbs to the draw weight. Does your club have a bow scale you can use?

| Sorry we must have posted at the same time! For sure I'd recommend a button - at least if you are a small amount off with the arrow spine you can tune to compensate for it. Have you looked at the Beman ICS arrows? Exactly same construction, spine choices etc - cheaper! Steve

| Gosh, this really does get very technical doesn't it? I haven't actually received the bow yet so I can't do any tests just at the moment. The 'tape measure trick' is something I found on one of the archery store sights and just says hold the end in your bow hand and draw back to your firing position which is 30" on me. I'll see if we have got a long arrow and try that, but I'm not sure if we have a scale to be honest, I'll have to venture into the depths of the shed and see what lurks within... |

| I've not seen the Beman ones before, all the catalogues I have just seem to have Easton's. Where can I get those from? Cheaper always sounds better to me as I'm always on a tight budget. ![]() |

I assume you belong to a club and have attended a beginners course? Can you not use a club bow to find out your draw length?

| Yes, I am a member of a club, RAF Lossiemouth. I can easily use a club bow, but I know most of the arrows are fairly short (or seem to be) I'll give it a try on Sunday and see what my measurement actually comes up as. |
