Centre shot

Is this really essential to get the maximum out of your bow,or can adjusting your sight for windage fully compensate.

Well it depends, if your form is good a well tuned bow will pay dividends and make it shoot easier, and not having to adjust between a distance change is always a bonus. However if your form is poor, sight adjustment will be fine, as it will be the least of your problems.

Windage adjustment cannot compensate at all for not having a forgiving bow set up.

Rgsphoto does raise the issue of at what point do you start the basic tuning process. If your spraying arrows randomly over a 122cm face at 20 yards then don't bother. I suppose a sensible answer might be when you can. A suggested criteria is when you can reasonably group bare shaft arrows at 30m. Even if the groups are say the size of the 5 ring you can still get somewhere with improving the setup.

In terms of classification, you can probably get to 2nd class without bothering with tuning. First class means longer distances so no basic setup will start taking a big bite out of your score.
