Cheers, that was a n00b mistake there, I've been calling them fletches, but made a blunder back there. I've also changed my sig a few days ago to say shoot ![]()

| I'd never thought about it before, but when i changed my nocks for my arrows, the beiter ones added a good 10-15mm to the arrow length (groove of nock to end of shaft). Anyone care to hazard a guess as to how that may or may not have changed my tuning? (I changed my string and bracing height around the same time so had to re-tune from scratch anyway). |

I think the weight difference would be negligible, though.

| Indoors and Outdoors, what factors? Hi again, Another Q on what differences are encountered when you take the recurve indoors with regards to arrows, aside from no wind. I was thinking of not using Carbon Arrows indoors, mainly because not only are they cheaper and won't shatter, but they are thicker and I'd assume you have more chance of linecutters? So, my Q is: What makes an arrow suitable for indoor that would make it unsuitable for outdoor, apart from the wind element? Fanks ![]()

| Any arrow that you use outdoors is good for indoor use as well - but you might want to consider: 1) Indoor ranges are short - 20 yds for a Portsmouth. Good archers score well at this distance so the gold gets, well, crowded! Damage to arrows is therefore more likely, and it would make sense NOT to use one's ACEs indoors! (They're about £220 per dozen!). 2) Since the distance is shorter. it is possible to use a heavier (therefore more robust) arrow. Some like Easton Fatboys because the extra width of shaft means they get more linecutters. Personally, I think XX75s are some of the best ali arrows around, and at about £40-ish, I'd go for them as a first arrow for indoors and out. They're not much more expensive than the Jazz but a whole leap forward in quality. 3) Fletches - having a distinctive colour combination is nice, but remember that whilst you are aiming to put them in the gold, a fair number will actually end up in the green, especially when you go up a distance! (Someone once estimated that doubling the distance shot makes it four times as difficult). The point is, you should also consider a colour combination that will show up well in the grass!
